Chrome Extension for PS.com Forums
I've made my first-ever browser extension. I chose Google Chrome, mostly because I actually use Chrome on a regular basis. It also turns out it's not too hard to make extensions for.
This extension adds some features to http://boardsus.playstation.com.
Extension Features
- Removes the left-side flash navigation banner which interfered with links
- Moved over header and announcements to occupy extra space
- Page auto-refresh
- Refreshes at a user-defined interval
- Refreshes main board listing, category board listing, and thread listing
- Will not refresh if you are reading a thread or composing a message
- Go to Menu
- An easy access drop-down to access all the boards
- Includes quick-links to external communities
- Auto BR
- IF using the HTML editor, will automatically insert
tags when you press enter.

Update 1.1 (March 19)
- Auto-refresh
- Now refreshes private messenger window and recent posts page of a user
- Go to Menu
- New Feature: default to the page your on, so you can quickly jump to other boards in that category
- New Feature: Favorites. Mark a board or category as a favorite in the settings page and it will show up at the top of the dropdown list
- Auto BR
- Will now insert BR's when editing a post as well
- General
- Private Messenger window will show total new messages on the tab title.
- Minor changes to options page.

- New Feature: Now displays time until page refresh on the extension icon.

- The options page has been revamped a bit.
- Auto Refresh allows for finer control.
- Favorites selection is now easier and will always highlight current favorites.
- Replaced Alert() dialog with a more friendly dialog.
- Page confirms if you want to save or not before leaving if you've made changes.
- Bug fixes and tweaks to other features.
- Button movement has been perfected.
- Clicking quick reply will now automatically put cursor in quick reply box so you can type without an extra mouse click.
- The options page has been revamped a bit.
The individual features can be turned on or off to your preference. More options are likely to come down the road, particularly for the go-to menu.
