Rooting HTC Incredible

This guide is for users of the HTC Incredible and other HTC Phones supported by unrEVOked. This is to gain root access to phones running stock Android version 2.1 or 2.2.

Note the latest version of unrEVOked (3.21) is not made public available yet, so this will only work for phones running Android 2.1 at the moment.

  1. Download unrevoked: http://www.unrevoked.com
  2. Install HTC Sync if you don't already have it installed. This installs necessary drivers for your phone. You can get them from HTC's website.

  3. Follow the instructions below to install the HBOOT Drivers.

    • To get out of HBOOT mode press the power button to select Fastboot, then press volume down to select Reboot, then press the power button again.
  4. Once the phone has rebooted into normal mode, make sure USB Debugging is on and Charge Only mode selected.
  5. Uninstall HTC Sync, but leave HTC Drivers installed. <-- this step is important
  6. Run unrEVOked and sit back while the phone goes through its several reboot processes and roots your phone.
    • If you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7, right click the reflash.exe and select Run as Administrator
  7. Wait while the phone goes through several reboots. This could take 5-10 minutes.
  8. After the phone is done rebooting, the unrEVOked window should say "Done" or "This was a Triumph", and you should see the application "Superuser Permissions" installed on your phone.
